“Now I see the secret of making the best person: it is to grow in the open air and to eat and sleep with the earth.” ~Walt Whitman
Have you ever had your hands deep into the soil and end your day happy? Or plant seeds and feel the success of them sprouting and becoming food?
I tend to watch my garden spaces long before I plant. I make mental notes of where the best spots are for sun. I notice where water pools, and where the soil is the driest. And after the garden starts growing, I watch the insects and how they interact within the garden. It’s an amazingly spiritual experience I’d invite anyone to try.
I also spend a lot of time in thought before painting a canvas. I’ll “see”what I want on the canvas long before I actually paint it. And, yes, sometimes it turns out different than I had seen in my mind. And sometimes the entire canvas is a secret until the paint decides what it’s going to do.
